Job summary

X-Factor Consulting's client seeks a skilled Machinist to operate conventional mills and lathes in Rome, Georgia. The role involves setting up machines to manufacture one-off precision steel components on an on-site basis.

You will review prints, interpret drawings, select tooling, and verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers, ensuring parts meet exact tolerances. Welding attachments and coordinating with the shop team are also part of the job.

Qualifications

• Experience operating conventional (non-CNC) mills and lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments to ensure tight tolerances.
• Experience welding attachments when needed to support machining sequences.
• Familiarity with basic shop math for layouts and calculations.
• Strong safety awareness and teamwork in a machining environment.

Responsibilities

• Review prints, engineering drawings and specs to plan each unique job.
• Produce drawings or sketches of parts when documentation is incomplete.
• Check dimensions throughout the job with micrometers, calipers and gauges.
• Inspect completed pieces against required specifications before release.
• Weld attachments or features as needed to support the machining sequence.
• Perform routine machine care and troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
• Coordinate with shop teammates to improve workflow and safety practices.
