Job summary

Atlanta Gear Works, Inc. in Dawsonville, GA, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist. You will set up and program CNC lathes and mills, read mechanical drawings, and verify tolerances with micrometers.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of machining experience, including CAM programming, and can read drawings precisely for high-precision gearwork. Responsibilities include executing setups, operating both manual and CNC equipment, and ensuring quality through measurement and math

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical school is a plus.
• Minimum of three years experience in machining.
• Experience with high-precision measuring instruments (verniers, micrometers, OD/ID, depth gauge) to thousandths.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts from mechanical drawings.
• CNC setup, programming on machine and in CAM, tool setup and operations.
• Operate both manual and CNC lathes and mills.
• Read micrometers and other measuring instruments; record readings.

Job description

Atlanta Gear Works is located in Dawsonville, GA. We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our skilled team. Ideal candidatemusthave at least 3 years of prior machining experience. Must have experience in programming and ability to operate manual and CNC Lathes and Mills, and be able to read mechanical drawings. This position is for a machinist, not operator. We are a contract precision maintenance jobshop that services and repairs both large and small process critical gearboxes for a variety of industries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to machine parts from mechanical drawings.
• CNC work must include setup, programming (on Machine and in CAM), tool setup and operations.
• Must have experience in both Manual and CNC Lathes and Mills.
• Ability to read micrometers and other measuring instruments and record readings.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Ability to make simple math calculations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED is required. Technical school is a plus.
• Minimum of three years experience in this field.
• Must have experience with correctly using high precision measuring instruments (such as verniers, micrometers OD & ID, depth gauge, etc.) in lengths of a thousandth.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift small, medium and large objects, up to 50lbs regularly. Stamina to work 40+ hours each week.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Must undergo pre-employment background check.
