Job summary

Atlanta Gear Works, located in Dawsonville, GA, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our precision shop. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of machining experience, programming ability, and competent operation of manual and CNC Lathes and Mills, with the skill to read mechanical drawings.

The position is on first shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:45 pm with overtime opportunities. We offer a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life

Qualifications

• Three years minimum machining experience.
• Must be able to read mechanical drawings.
• Experience with micrometers and precision measuring tools.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts from mechanical drawings.
• CNC work includes setup, programming (Machine/ CAM).
• Tool setup and operation on manual and CNC lathes and mills.
• Read micrometers and other measuring instruments and record readings.
• Read mechanical drawings and ensure conformance.

Job description

Atlanta Gear Works is located in Dawsonville, GA. We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our skilled team. Ideal candidatemusthave at least 3 years of prior machining experience. Must have experience in programming and ability to operate manual and CNC Lathes and Mills, and be able to read mechanical drawings. This position is for a machinist, not operator. Schedule is on 1st shift, M-F 7am-3:45pm with overtime opportunity.

We are a contract precision maintenance jobshop that services and repairs both large and small process critical gearboxes for a variety of industries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to machine parts from mechanical drawings
• CNC work must include setup, programming (on Machine and in CAM), tool setup and operations
• Must have experience in both Manual and CNC Lathes and Mills
• Ability to read micrometers and other measuring instruments and record readings
• Ability to read mechanical drawings
• Ability to make simple math calculations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED is required. Technical school is a plus
• Minimum of three years experience in this field
• Must have experience with correctly using high precision measuring instruments (such as verniers, micrometers OD & ID, depth gauge, etc.) in lengths of a thousandth

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift small, medium and large objects, up to 50lbs regularly. Stamina to work 40+ hours each week.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a valid driver's license in good standing
• Must undergo pre-employment background check.
