Job summary

CLOVEHITCH is seeking qualified on-site interpreters to provide in-person interpretation services across the Hawaiian Islands. This role requires proficiency in English and various target languages to ensure accurate communication between clients and those receiving services.

The interpreters will adhere to strict professional ethics while performing at various client sites, ensuring mutual understanding in diverse settings.

This position is offered on a contractor basis with assignments available year-round.

Qualifications

• Must have working proficiency (ILR 2+) in English and a target language.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret in a professional setting.
• Prior experience in government, healthcare, or legal settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and impartial in-person interpretation.
• Serve as a liaison ensuring mutual understanding.
• Adhere to ethical standards including confidentiality.

Skills

Working proficiency in English and target language

Interpersonal communication skills

Interpreting in health, legal, and social services domains

Knowledge of interpreter ethics

Education

Interpreter training or certification (CCHI, CMI, etc.)
