Job summary

CLOVEHITCH is looking for qualified on-site Hawaiian interpreters to provide interpretation services across the Hawaiian Islands. This independent contractor position requires working proficiency in English and the target language.

The main responsibilities include providing accurate interpretation between client staff and LEP clients. Candidates should have prior experience in professional environments and knowledge of interpreter ethics.

This role is on-demand, performed across various client sites, requiring travel to neighbor islands.

Qualifications

• Must have working proficiency in English and target language.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret accurately in a professional environment.
• Prior experience in government, healthcare, legal, or social services preferred.
• Interpreter training or certification preferred.
• Familiarity with Pacific Islander communities and terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and impartial in-person interpretation between clients and staff.
• Interpret without omitting or summarizing any information.
• Serve as a communication liaison ensuring mutual understanding.
• Adhere to professional interpreter codes of ethics.
