Trinity Health Of New England's Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT is seeking an experienced Infection Control professional to oversee the infection prevention program on site. The role focuses on preventing disease transmission across all patient ages and staff.

Responsibilities include leading epidemiological investigations of exposures, developing policies and quality initiatives, and delivering in-services with department leaders.

Qualifikationen

• CT RN license and BSN are required.
• At least 5 years of recent acute care experience.
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by APIC after preparatory course and after at least one year of infection prevention experience.
• Current knowledge of OSHA, TJC, and CT Department of Public Health regulations.
• Experience with EPIC, Midas, Medmined, and NHSN preferred.
• Strong understanding of epidemiologic principles, microbiology, and infectious disease processes.

Aufgaben

• Provide infection control services to all ages of patients and colleagues, focusing on prevention of disease transmission.
• Direct epidemiological investigations of exposures and implement controls to prevent further exposures.
• Develop infection control policies, procedures, objectives and quality improvement activities.
• Present infection control in-services with department heads and educators.
• Assist in reviewing and reducing sharps injuries and related safety issues.
• Investigate risks and performance issues, and coordinate corrective actions with managers.
