Job summary

AdeptHR is seeking a hands-on Construction Supervisor for a minimum one-year contract in Joliet, Illinois. This field-focused role requires leadership over heavy industrial and concrete construction, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

You will run daily field operations, manage subcontractors, and mentor a team to solve on-site challenges while delivering monthly progress reports and ensuring on-time project milestones.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years of construction experience, with a proven track record in heavy industrial projects and concrete construction.
• Leadership: Experience directly managing and leading multiple subordinate supervisors on large-scale jobsites.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, and field crews.
• Technical Proficiency: Solid basic computer and email skills, including experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and SharePoint platforms.
• Problem-Solving Focus: Proven ability to identify field issues early, develop practical solutions, and mentor team members through challenges.
• Nice-to-Have: Prior experience managing contract buy-outs and reviewing complex project financial reports.
• Nice-to-Have: Local market familiarity and established relationships with sub-contractors and vendors in Joliet, IL area.

Responsibilities

• Field Ownership: Direct all on-site activities, including pre-planning, mobilization, daily operations, and project closeout.
• Schedule Management: Develop, maintain, and manage a detailed project schedule, including the creation and execution of three-week look-ahead schedules.
• Safety Leadership: Establish, model, and enforce a strict zero-incident safety culture across the entire site.
• Meeting Facilitation: Conduct pre-construction meetings and lead weekly production meetings to keep all parties aligned.
• Reporting & Financials: Track progress and generate detailed monthly reports on safety, quality, and partner performance; actively review project financials and manage contract buy-outs.
• Team Development: Direct and mentor subordinate supervisors, and take an active role in recruiting, training, and developing team members.
• Relationship Management: Nurture productive, professional relationships with the project team, vendors, and partners, holding everyone accountable to high performance expectations.
