Job summary

Powers & Sons Construction is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations across Greater Chicago. You will oversee subcontractor coordination, safety, and schedule management from mobilization through closeout.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in superintendent roles for commercial, institutional, or multifamily projects, with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. On-site in the Greater Chicago area, base salary DOE with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience leading commercial, institutional, or multifamily construction as a Superintendent or field leader.
• Strong ability to plan ahead and coordinate trade partners.
• Proven ability to manage site safety programs and daily quality control.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily site operations and coordinate subcontractors, trades, deliveries, equipment, and site logistics.
• Establish and enforce project safety expectations and address hazards promptly.
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules aligned with the project schedule.
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and track commitments.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals, and RFIs to identify conflicts and ensure field work meets requirements.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP work across trades.
• Monitor workmanship and apply our safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, and approvals with project team and authorities.
• Maintain daily reports, progress photos, manpower records, and field condition docs.
• Collaborate with Project Manager to address schedule risks, scope changes, and material/cost impacts.
• Coordinate punch-list, startup, commissioning, and turnover activities.
• Provide direction to field staff and maintain professional relations with owners, designers, and trade partners.
