Job summary

MU Health Care’s Respiratory Therapy team is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist, Registered, to provide routine and emergency respiratory care across general, progressive care units and ICU. The role emphasizes independence, adherence to approved protocols, and participation in Code Blue and Trauma Response activities.

The candidate will document in EMR, follow strict infection control standards, and educate families and students.

Qualifications

• RCP licensure by Missouri board or Educational Permit graduate.
• CRT certification required within 1 month; RRT within 1 year.
• Ability to work independently and in emergency situations per approved protocols.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy per approved protocols and guidelines.
• Participate in Code Blue, Rapid Response Team, and Trauma Response Team activities.
• Document patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Follow infection control and safety standards.
• Educate and advise patients' families on respiratory therapy procedures; provide education to students and staff.
• Participate in Department Performance Improvement Projects.
• Perform advanced pulmonary function testing and assist with bronchoscopy procedures.
• Complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
