Job summary

A Pittsburgh-area manufacturer is seeking an on-site HR lead for a plant with ~80 employees, reporting to HR leadership and partnering with plant management. You will handle employee relations, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, and workforce development on a daily basis.

This role offers growth to oversee HR across multiple sites in the longer term and requires strong presence on the production floor and collaboration with union relations where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years in HR within manufacturing or warehousing.
• Union environment experience preferred; strong candidates without it who show they can pick it up will be considered.
• Able to handle sensitive employee matters independently and judge when escalation is warranted.
• Builds trust easily with everyone from the floor to the front office.
• HRIS experience a plus, especially helping with an implementation.
• Must be local; relocation is not offered.

Responsibilities

• Act as the single point of HR contact for a plant of roughly 80 employees.
• Coach plant leaders through employee relations issues, performance conversations, and conflict.
• Work alongside corporate HR on union grievances and labor relations.
• Drive site-level recruiting, onboarding, and retention.
• Keep the site in line with employment law and company policy.
• Stay visible on the production floor so employees know who to come to.
• Help roll out HR systems and process improvements.
• Report site trends and concerns up to HR leadership.
