Job summary

Healthcare Alternative Systems (HAS) is seeking an HR Generalist to support day-to-day people operations across its Chicago-area locations. This on-site role reports to the HR Manager and covers employee relations, investigations, records, benefits administration, training coordination, and backup payroll support.

You will maintain confidential records, support compliance with employment laws, and assist with events that boost engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Valid State Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle.
• On-site work with travel to other HAS locations as directed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a point of contact for HR inquiries related to policies, procedures, and general HR matters.
• Lead and conduct the full investigation process including information gathering, interviewing involved parties and witnesses, reviewing documentation, maintaining records, and preparing findings and recommendations aligned with organizational policies and applicable requirements.
• Assist with performance review processes by tracking evaluations and maintaining related documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date employee records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive data.
• Support audits by assisting with financial, program, and accreditation efforts, including resolution of findings.
• Administer employee benefits including health, dental, vision, ancillary, and retirement plans and coordinate open enrollment activities.
• Coordinate training program delivery to support employee growth and development.
• Support policy implementation and enforcement of HR policies related to attendance, leave, and workplace conduct.
• Contribute to employee satisfaction efforts by helping plan events, surveys, and programs that support a positive work environment.
• Assist and/or lead HAS HR events, including Event Planner, annual holiday party, and employee recognition program.
• Measure employee morale and track KPIs as directed, and support data collection for reporting.
