Job summary

CGS Federal seeks a mid-level FSR ISSO to be embedded on-site with U.S. Government customers, ensuring secure operation of a production-grade data and application platform in mission-critical environments.

You will serve as the primary authority for system security and compliance, working hands-on with live systems while coordinating with engineers, operators, and customer security teams across cloud and on-premises environments.

Qualifications

• Background in systems administration, software development, or systems engineering with Linux expertise.
• Experience accrediting IT systems per NIST SP 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DISA STIGs.
• Hands-on experience with eMASS or Xacta for accreditation.
• Ability to implement and validate security configurations in collaboration with engineering teams.
• Familiarity with configuration management and automation tools (Puppet, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Ansible).
• Proficiency with Git for version control.
• Experience using Nessus and OpenSCAP for vulnerability assessment.
• Experience in AWS and on-prem environments.
• Strong technical documentation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Curiosity and critical thinking to align real deployments with security requirements.
• Active TS/SCI Clearance or Eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary on-site contact for security and compliance across government customers.
• Support system accreditation activities using RMF or DIACAP.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure security controls and configurations are correctly implemented.
• Analyze deployments for security alignment with requirements.
• Build and maintain security documentation (SSPs, POA&Ms, control narratives).
• Generate and organize evidence of compliance after security settings are applied.
• Assemble accreditation artifacts into an auditable repository.
• Support audits, assessments, and ongoing compliance throughout the lifecycle.
• Maintain security and trust through hands-on system access and coordination with teams.
• Support software operating across AWS, Azure, on-premises, and multiple classification levels.
• Operate in evolving platform, threat landscape, and operational needs.
