Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Global Trade Compliance Counsel in Washington, DC to serve as the SME for export controls across rocket, satellite, and AI programs. You will support ITAR/EAR compliance, anti-corruption, and anti-boycott matters, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen policies and procedures.

You will advise on regulatory interpretations, draft advisory opinions, manage licenses, and lead investigations.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• 3+ years in a corporate legal department or law firm advising on U.S. federal regulatory matters, including export controls, sanctions, or trade.
• Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. state.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on export-controlled commodities, ITAR, and EAR obligations.
• Drive growth and improvements for SpaceX's export compliance program.
• Partner with engineering on jurisdiction and classification for hardware, software, and tech.
• Engage with DoS and DoC for regulatory interpretations and authorizations.
• Prepare and manage licenses and exemptions as applicable.
• Lead investigations into potential non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct internal compliance audits and improve policies.
• Develop trusted advisor relationships with internal business partners.
