Job summary

George Mason University Facilities & Campus Operations seeks a General Maintenance Technician II to maintain university facilities at the SciTech campus in Manassas, VA. The role supports senior trades workers and may require overtime and emergency coverage.

You will perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing tasks, drive university vehicles per policy, and ensure safety. A high school diploma and 4–5 years of maintenance experience are required; active driver's license and MVR review are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 4+ years of progressive carpentry and general maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of building maintenance trades and safety practices.
• Valid driver's license meeting university Vehicle Use Policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform varied skilled building maintenance, repair, and construction tasks.
• Conduct minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
• Install and maintain door closers, panic devices, and switches on doors.
• Inspect parts, order replacements, and perform preventive maintenance.
• Drive university vehicles to job sites and maintain tools and materials.
• Adhere to safety procedures and report accidents promptly.
• Work as part of a team to support facilities operations.
