Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking a General Maintenance Worker I to support operations at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station. You will assist with basic facility upkeep and repairs under supervision, helping ensure buildings remain safe, functional, and presentable.

Requirements include 2 years of maintenance experience, basic hand tool understanding, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and HS diploma or GED preference. Night shift 11pm–7am with on-call availability may apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in building maintenance or similar role.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and standard maintenance practices.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced maintenance staff.
• Ability to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied environments.
• HS diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing basic maintenance tasks including minor repairs to fixtures, walls, doors, and hardware.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of mechanical rooms, tool storage, and service areas.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters as directed.
• Support maintenance team with tools, materials, and project setup.
• Report observed facility issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols and site procedures in accordance with PWS Section C-5.B and OSHA standards.
• Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and supplies in assigned work areas.
• Perform night fire watch and response duties including determining the reason for the alarm.
• Respond to any fire panel alarm within the required time when called.
• Be able to silence the alarm and return the system to full function by silencing or if a system fault requires immediate correction.
• Report issues to the Facility Operations Manager if urgent servicing is needed.

SUMMARY:

Perform entry-level maintenance and repair duties to support building operations at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station. As LAUKOA's General Maintenance Worker I, you will assist with basic facility upkeep and repair tasks under the supervision of senior maintenance personnel, helping ensure buildings and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and presentable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in performing basic maintenance tasks including minor repairs to fixtures, walls, doors, and hardware.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of mechanical rooms, tool storage, and service areas.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters as directed.
• Support maintenance team with tools, materials, and project setup.
• Report observed facility issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols and site procedures in accordance with PWS Section C-5.B and OSHA standards.
• Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and supplies in assigned work areas.

• Report any issues/problems to the Facility Operations Manager Operations if system needs to be serviced immediately due to a fault that cannot be fixed by silencing or if a system error/malfunction that requires immediate correction.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain a favorable adjudication via a DHS background investigation and maintain suitability clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.
• This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.
• Work Hours are 11pm - 7am with availability to be on-call outside of work hours
  • Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.
