Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking a General Maintenance Worker I to support building operations at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, SC. The role involves basic upkeep, tool organization, and assisting with repairs under supervision.

Typical hours are 11pm–7am with on-call availability; candidates must be US citizens or eligible to work, and pass a DHS background investigation. This position offers a path to learn and grow within a federal contractor setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in building maintenance or similar role.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and standard maintenance practices.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced maintenance staff.
• Ability to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied environments.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in basic maintenance tasks including minor repairs to fixtures, walls, doors, and hardware.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of mechanical rooms, tool storage, and service areas.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters as directed.
• Support maintenance team with tools, materials, and project setup.
• Report observed facility issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols and site procedures in accordance with PWS Section C-5.B and OSHA standards.
• Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and supplies in assigned work areas.
• Perform night fire watch and response duties including determining the reason for the alarm.
• Respond to any fire panel alarm within the required time when called.
• Be able to silence the alarm and return the system to full function by silencing or if a fault occurs.
• Report any issues/problems to the Facility Operations Manager Operations if system needs to be serviced immediately due to a fault that cannot be fixed.

Summary

Perform entry-level maintenance and repair duties to support building operations at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station. As LAUKOA’s General Maintenance Worker I, you will assist with basic facility upkeep and repair tasks under the supervision of senior maintenance personnel, helping ensure buildings and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and presentable.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to obtain a favorable adjudication via a DHS background investigation and maintain suitability clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.
• This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.
• Work Hours are 11pm – 7am with availability to be on-call outside of work hours.
• Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.
