Job summary

AXIS ENGINEERING ARCHITECTS in Washington, DC seeks a General Engineer to support the Senior Construction Manager on a major infrastructure project through June 2028. The role focuses on developing project documents, administering construction activities, reviewing drawings and specs, and coordinating with stakeholders to meet contract requirements on-site.

This fully on-site position requires an engineering degree and offers hourly compensation plus transportation allowance per company policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is REQUIRED.
• 1–5 years of relevant engineering, construction, or project management experience.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of construction administration and contract requirements.
• Experience reviewing contractor documentation, submittals, and payment applications.
• Ability to identify and track schedule, cost, and construction risks.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
• Ability to work fully on-site in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Construction Manager with project documentation and construction administration.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Prepare scopes of work, RFPs, IGEs, and change-order packages.
• Review and respond to RFIs and contractor submittals.
• Review contractor payment applications and maintain accurate project records.
• Monitor field progress, schedules, costs, and contract compliance; identify potential risks.
• Coordinate with project managers, COTRs, contractors, designers, consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve construction issues and support project closeout.
