Job summary

Columbia University in the City of New York is seeking a Finance and Data Operations Manager for the CS3 NSF Engineering Research Center. You will manage the Center’s $7.2M operating budget, develop internal controls, and produce consolidated financial reporting across partner institutions and sponsors.

The role leads dashboards, data pipelines, and compliance with 2 CFR 200, coordinating with SEAS Finance, SPA/SPF, and university offices. On-site position with regular presence required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
• 4–6 years of hands-on financial administration and management experience, including demonstrated experience independently administering sponsored research awards.
• Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet-based analysis and reporting.
• Experience building dashboards and reports using BI tools (Power BI/Tableau/Looker Studio).
• Experience managing, reconciling, and consolidating data from multiple systems into consistent reporting outputs.
• Working knowledge of federal grant financial compliance: 2 CFR 200.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to present financial data to non-financial audiences.
• This position requires an Excel assessment.

Responsibilities

• Budget Administration: administers Center budgets, performs reconciliations, monitors expenditures, and prepares budget projections and year-end reporting.
• Data Operations: designs dashboards, maintains reporting pipelines, and ensures data quality for multi-institution reporting.
• Daily Financial Operations: initiates financial transactions, processes reimbursements, purchases, and journal entries, and supports payroll and HR-related tasks.
• Awards and Grants: drafts proposal budgets and maintains grant management files.
• Event and Admin Support: provides support for Center events and related tasks.
