Job summary

Morris Heating & Cooling, a Cincinnati-area HVAC contractor, seeks a hands-on Controller / Head of Finance to own the accounting and financial reporting end-to-end.

You will manage POC revenue recognition, WIP schedules, ETC, and ensure integration between BuildOps and QuickBooks Online to align operational and financial data. This role reports to senior leadership and drives margin discipline across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA and/or CMA a plus.
• 7+ years of accounting/finance experience, including direct MEP experience.
• Hands-on command of POC, WIP, ETC, and job costing.
• Experience with BuildOps integration to QuickBooks Online.
• Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Own POC revenue recognition and accurate work-in-progress schedules.
• Develop and update ETC and cost-to-complete figures for each project.
• Manage full monthly close, reconciliations, and consolidated schedules.
• Post journal entries directly in QuickBooks Online.
• Manage BuildOps integration with QuickBooks Online.
• Maintain job costing and margin analysis with real-time visibility.
• Manage cash forecasting, billing, and collections.
• Oversee accounts payable and payroll coordination.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages.
• Establish internal controls and coordinate with CPAs and insurers.
