Job summary

First Nations Technical Institute on-site Facilities/Maintenance Tech position falls under a fixed-term contract from November 2026 to March 31, 2027. The role covers comprehensive maintenance, cleaning, equipment operation, and safety compliance to keep the campus safe and functional.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will open/close duties, coordinate purchases, and support routine servicing with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Secondary School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with industrial/office cleaning procedures.
• Valid Class G Ontario driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Demonstrated technical/mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to travel occasionally and work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement maintenance and custodial practices.
• Perform day-to-day facilities maintenance tasks to extend asset lifespan.
• Respond to issues, troubleshoot, and arrange repairs or replacements.
• Inspect equipment and coordinate repairs with the Facilities Manager.
• Oversee seasonal and weather-related readiness (snow, ice, storm).
• Maintain documentation and liaise with staff and visitors.
