Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking an Engineer to oversee and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across properties in the Washington, DC area. The role requires overseeing technicians, performing preventive and reactive maintenance, and ensuring safety and compliance in daily operations.

You will conduct routine tours, adjust HVAC for tenant comfort, and respond to service requests and alarms while documenting actions and maintaining logs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of experience in stationary engineering, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
• Current license as a Class Three Steam Boiler Engineer or equivalent licensing acceptable to the Company.
• Certification as a CFC Universal Technician from a US EPA-approved program.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Ability to work independently and on a team; manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the work of subordinate employees and coordinate maintenance activities.
• Operate, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, life safety systems in assigned properties.
• Conduct daily mechanical tours and document faults and actions.
• Adjust HVAC controls to manage temperature and air circulation for tenant comfort.
• Respond to alarms and incidents; document actions in the service request system.
• Carry out preventive and reactive maintenance per manufacturers' specs and company standards.
• Ensure documentation and logs are accurately updated and filed.
• Punctual, dependable, and flexible to respond to callbacks, overtime, weekends, or holidays.
