Job summary

Cascade Biocatalysts is seeking a Research Associate to join the enzyme team in Denver, CO. This role focuses on designing, executing, and advancing internal and customer-driven enzyme projects, including assay development and protein expression.

You will work under scientists to expand and characterize Cascade’s enzyme portfolio and leverage Body Armor for Enzyme immobilization. This is a fast-paced startup environment with cross-functional collaboration and data-driven documentation.

Qualifications

• BS in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or related field with 1–2 years of relevant lab experience
• Experience with enzyme assays, cloning, and protein expression preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and teamwork in a startup environment

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute enzyme activity assays to support screening of engineered variants
• Perform molecular cloning and plasmid construction for enzyme libraries
• Express and purify recombinant enzymes; assess purity via SDS-PAGE
• Support bioconjugation using Body Armor for Enzymes technology
• Collaborate across biochemists, chemical engineers, and chemists on experiments
• Maintain meticulous records and analyze data using appropriate software
• Contribute to SOPs and communicate progress to the team
