Job summary

Cascade Biocatalysts seeks a Research Associate to join our enzyme team in designing, executing, and advancing internal and customer-driven enzyme projects. You will assist with expression, purification, and characterization of enzyme variants, supporting assay development and recombinant protein tasks.

As an early hire in a startup, you will collaborate across biochemists, chemical engineers, and chemists, contribute to SOPs, data analysis, and documentation, and help scale our Body Armor for

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field with 1–2 years of relevant work or research experience.
• Experience with enzyme assays, bioconjugation, PCR, SDS-PAGE, or cloning.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute enzyme activity assays to support screening and characterization.
• Perform molecular cloning and plasmid construction for variant libraries.
• Express and purify recombinant enzymes and assess purity.
• Collaborate across biochemists, chemical engineers, and chemists on experiments.
• Maintain meticulous records and analyze data with appropriate software.
