Job summary

Clean Harbors in Groveport, OH is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with regulations and company policies. This customer-facing role works at plants, labs, and customer sites, including HHW collections and lab moves, both indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications

• Experience handling hazardous waste in environmental services or lab pack settings.
• Ability to prepare packing lists, labels, manifests and regulatory notifications.
• Strong focus on safety, OSHA/EPA/DOT compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in packaging and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests and disposal notifications.
• Inspect staging, accumulation, and storage areas for compliance and housekeeping.
• Inspect drums for leaks, spills, and proper labeling.
• Package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Perform jobs at customer locations, including large multinational sites.
• Ensure projects are prepared and approved before shipment per policies.
• Follow site-specific federal, state, and local regulations and health and safety plans.
• Understand customer disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements.
• Sample and profile new waste streams requiring analytical testing.
• Verify drum counts and ship- readiness according to company procedures.
• Follow all local, state, and federal regulations and rules.
• Operate vehicles safely per DOT and regulations.
• Adhere to corporate safety and operating guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
