Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist in Baltimore, MD to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste at customer sites. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role with indoor/outdoor work at plants, labs, and facilities.

You will work at customer sites daily, participate in HHW collections, and assist with lab moves. The position offers growth and a clear progression path within Clean Harbors, with comprehensive training and benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong customer service skills.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, as applicable.
• Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, facial hair standards apply for respirator positions.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety and follow all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
• Prepare computer generated packing lists, labels, manifest, and disposal notifications.
• Inspect staging, storage areas for housekeeping and compliance.
• Inspect drums for leaks or spills and for labeling compliance.
• Package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Perform jobs at customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies.
• Finalize project preparation and approval before shipment per OSHA/EPA/DOT policies.
• Conduct projects per site regulations and health and safety plans.
• Follow customer disposal restrictions and packaging requirements.
• Sample and profile new waste streams or wastes needing analytical testing.
• Ensure drum count is correct and drums are shippable per policy.
• Follow all local, state, and federal regulations and rules.
• Safely operate vehicles per DOT requirements.
• Observe corporate EH&S guidelines and perform other duties as assigned.
