Job summary

Jacobs is hiring an On-Site Electrical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. The role focuses on representing electrical systems on the ground, supporting installation, and ensuring smooth delivery of critical electrical infrastructure.

The engineer will coordinate with engineering teams, manage RFIs and field changes, and monitor safety, quality, and progress on site while collaborating with commissioning and Owner teams to implement the system successfully.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical design, construction, operations, or commissioning; or 5+ years supporting hyperscale data center projects.
• Experience with substations, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, MV/LV distribution, protective relaying, and mission-critical electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for electrical systems.
• Support construction activities involving MV/LV distribution, emergency power, grounding, controls, and distribution systems.
• Conduct daily field observations to assess quality, safety, and installation progress.
• Coordinate electrical design issues and field modifications with engineering teams.
• Facilitate review and resolution of RFIs, submittals, and equipment substitutions.
• Support BIM coordination reviews and interdisciplinary coordination efforts.
• Monitor installation activities for compliance with drawings, specifications, and design intent.
• Identify deficiencies, installation concerns, and schedule risks.
• Coordinate inspections, testing activities, energization planning, and startup support.
• Collaborate with commissioning, QA/QC, and Owner teams to ensure successful system implementation.
• Prepare weekly site observation reports and technical recommendations; participate in project meetings and maintain clear communication among stakeholders.
