Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Electrical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. The role acts as the field representative, supporting installation and delivery of electrical infrastructure, and facilitating communication among project stakeholders.

The engineer will coordinate with engineering teams, monitor field progress, and ensure compliance with drawings and design intent while supporting commissioning and startup activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in electrical design, construction, operations, or commissioning; or 5+ years on hyperscale data center projects.
• Experience with substations, switchgear, UPS, generators, MV/LV distribution, protective relaying, and critical electrical systems.
• Familiar with electrical codes, standards, and testing requirements.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and communication abilities.
• Ability to safely work on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary on-site representative for electrical systems.
• Support construction activities involving medium-voltage, low-voltage, and distribution systems.
• Conduct daily field observations for quality, safety, and progress.
• Coordinate design issues and field modifications with engineering teams.
• Facilitate RFIs, submittals, and equipment substitutions.
• Support BIM coordination and interdisciplinary reviews.
• Monitor installations for conformance to drawings and specifications.
• Identify deficiencies, schedule risks, and safety concerns.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, energization planning, and startup support.
• Collaborate with commissioning, QA/QC and Owner teams for successful implementation.
• Prepare weekly site observation reports and technical recommendations.
