Job summary

Veranova is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist II for our Devens, MA site. You will develop, implement, and continuously improve site safety programs to protect employees, contractors, and visitors, partnering with operations and leadership.

The role offers an on-site schedule 8AM-5PM, opportunities to lead inspections, investigations, training, and emergency preparedness while ensuring regulatory compliance and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, engineering, science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in an EHS related position.
• Knowledge of occupational safety regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies, and safety management systems.
• Experience supporting or managing safety programs, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time while in plant, reaching, handling, twisting, and bending spine at waist if operating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain site safety programs, policies, and initiatives to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
• Conduct safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations; recommend and implement corrective actions to reduce workplace risks.
• Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, company standards, and industry best practices.
• Manage contractor safety programs, including onboarding, training, and verification of site-specific safety requirements.
• Develop and deliver safety training on topics such as hazard recognition, PPE, emergency response, and safe work practices.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response planning, and employee awareness programs.
