Job summary

USA Waste and Recycling in Watertown, CT seeks a Safety Specialist to support DOT and OSHA compliance, safety audits, and training. This on-site role requires coordinating safety programs across the company and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities include incident tracking, trend analysis, and assisting with investigations while liaising with workers’ compensation processes. Travel may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with safety programs and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and communicate compliance with safety programs across the company.
• Advise the Safety Manager on procedures to ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA/DOT).
• Monitor, track, and communicate safety incidents; analyze reports for trends.
• Lead safety mentors and student interns where applicable.
• Assist with incident investigations from initial report to closure.
