Job summary

USA Waste and Recycling is seeking a Safety Specialist to support the monitoring and coordination of safety programs, including OSHA and DOT compliance, safety audits and training. This is an in-person role in Connecticut with no remote arrangements.

Compensation ranges from $65,000 to $75,000 per year, with a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, PTO and retirement options.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver's License and vehicle insurance.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and communicate compliance with safety programs (fleet safety, lockout/tagout, fall protection, etc.).
• Advise on procedures to ensure OSHA/DOT regulatory compliance.
• Monitor, track and communicate safety incidents across the company.
• Analyze accident reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead safety mentors and interns as needed.
• Assist with incident investigations from initial report to closure.
• Worker's Compensation liaison with managers, employees, brokers, insurers, safety and HR.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in workplace safety and health.
