Job summary

Transdev North America in Maplewood, NJ is hiring an in-person Dispatcher to join our Essex County team. You will oversee road service through communication with Operators and provide customer support to clients, focusing on safety and service reliability.

The role requires 3–5 years of dispatch experience and strong communication and computer skills. We offer a competitive hourly wage and a comprehensive benefits package, including vacation, sick days, holidays, and health/dental/vision

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Technical Degree preferred.
• 3-5 years' dispatching experience; driver experience in paratransit operations may be beneficial.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of traffic patterns and their impact on paratransit operations, preferred
• Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and on a two-way communication device
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and paratransit scheduling software (and preferably Spare) and the ability to learn new software
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee road service by tracking trip performance, ensuring on-time route begins and overall performance.
• Provide customer support by responding to questions regarding trips including no-shows, cancellations and missed trips.
• Manage emergencies for vehicle operators, acting as liaison with emergency services.
• Review route performance daily and proactively respond to service-impacting situations.
• Manage run pullouts, openings, and closing runs in Dispatch & Scheduling.
• Record late pullouts and uncovered driver callouts.
• Reassign trips between runs as needed.
• Respond to driver requests for assistance.
• Manage incidents and accidents per policy.
