Job summary

Plus One, an Optum company, is seeking a full-time Wellness Coach to work on-site with a corporate client in San Antonio, TX. You will build coaching relationships, provide encouragement, and guide participants toward healthier lifestyles through education and practical support.

You will use motivational interviewing, track progress, and coordinate with the Optum team to connect participants with appropriate programs and benefits. Strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in fitness, health promotion, counseling, or related health field.
• Coaching certification from Wellcoaches or another nationally recognized coaching organization preferred and ideally required.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a wellness coach in a corporate setting preferred.
• Understanding and proven experience in health management: prevention, screening, behavior modification, and disease management modalities.
• Experience with metric management and reporting.
• Strong written, verbal, digital communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to navigate and work within Optum coaching documentation systems.
• Proven organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaborative and independently.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to client and coaching participant’s needs with a high level of professionalism and maturity.
• Display confidence, compassion, and commitment while setting boundaries within the coaching relationship.

Responsibilities

• Work on-site at a corporate client, coaching team members to make lifestyle changes.
• Network and engage with clients, employees, and participants.
• Maintain flexible, client-focused schedule.
• Establish ongoing coaching relationships with SMART goals and implementation plans.
• Meet with team members in person for progress reviews.
• Maintain accurate documentation of participant progress.
• Provide reports on outcomes and aggregate data.
• Be familiar with client benefits and refer to related vendors as needed.
• Assist in collecting biometric data to measure progress toward goals.
• Refer 1:1 to programs that support wellness goals.
• Collaborate with Optum team and other departments as needed.
