Job summary

A healthcare services provider in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract, full-time, on-site role. The position supports laboratory operations and offers potential for permanent placement.

You will perform blood draws, label and centrifuge specimens, and ensure accurate test processing while following physician orders and OSHA regulations. Benefits are available with this contract.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• 1+ years of experience
• Glucose testing experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) as required
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
• Package specimens for transport
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate containers/tubes, label accurately, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
