Job summary

Powers & Sons Construction in the Greater Chicago area is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on projects across the region. The role coordinates subcontractors, ensures safety, manages schedules, and delivers quality work from mobilization through closeout.

You will partner with the Project Manager to plan execution, supervise field staff, track progress, and resolve issues before they impact schedule.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a Superintendent role preferred.
• Experience coordinating multiple subs and building systems through substantial completion.
• Strong understanding of sequencing, site logistics, drawings, specs, and QC.
• Ability to build practical work plans and hold teams accountable.
• Lead a consistent site safety program.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily site operations and coordinate subcontractors, trades, deliveries, equipment, and site logistics.
• Establish and enforce project safety expectations, conduct site observations, address hazards promptly.
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules aligned with the overall project schedule.
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings, communicate priorities, and track commitments.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals, and RFIs to identify conflicts and ensure field work meets requirements.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP work across trades.
• Monitor workmanship and apply the company’s standards through inspections and early correction of deficiencies.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, and required approvals with the project team and authorities.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photos, manpower records, and field condition docs.
• Partner with PM to address schedule risks, scope changes, and material/cost impacts.
• Coordinate punch-list, startup, commissioning, and turnover activities.
• Provide direction and support to field staff while maintaining client and trade partner relationships.
