Job summary

R.W. Mercer Co. is seeking a Site Superintendent for the Grand Rapids area to lead on-site construction activities, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to spec.

You will review plans, liaise with project managers and clients, and maintain rigorous field documentation. The role requires supervising field operations, enforcing OSHA safety standards, and delivering toolbox talks to crews.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising construction sites with scheduling and daily field operations.
• Knowledge of commercial construction with exposure to petroleum equipment installation or related work preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Strong commitment to safety, with experience implementing OSHA standards and company safety policies.
• Effective communication and leadership skills to guide crews, collaborate with project managers, and interact with clients.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and digital tools for reporting, documentation, and correspondence.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or construction-related coursework is beneficial.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites within the region as needed.
• Demonstrated reliability, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail in a fast-paced field environment.
