Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety professional to assist with enforcing EH&S policies and risk management on a construction project in Austin, TX.

You will support training, review subcontractor safety programs, administer drug screening, conduct site safety audits, and help maintain safety records while coordinating preconstruction and worker orientation activities with project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of related construction safety experience.
• Familiar with Federal, State, and Local EH&S regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with training for safe work practices and EH&S programs for construction project and Trade employees.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Review subcontractors' training per OSHA standards.
• Promote safe work practices and conditions per regulations and contractual requirements.
• Administer the drug screening program (e.g., pre-employment, post-accident, random) as required.
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings with supervisor.
• Conduct effective worker orientation programs for new employees; administer participation records.
• Gather Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for project contractors.
• Maintain safety records (PTPs, JHAs, training, toolbox talks, OSHA 300 log, MSDS, chemical inventory, incident investigations).
• Conduct Safety meetings and issue minutes as directed.
• Maintain log of subcontractor toolbox safety meetings and provide summaries to supervisor.
• Conduct project site safety audits and inspections; draft corrective action reports for violations.
• Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, with emphasis on imminent danger.
• Other duties as assigned.
