Job summary

ERM is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to provide on-site support for our pharmaceutical client in Philadelphia, PA. You will observe construction activities from an EHS perspective, ensuring health and safety compliance and implementing company safety standards.

In this full-time, 12-month limited-term role, you will lead safety training, document activities, and coordinate with client EH&S personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, safety, or occupational health and safety, or a related degree preferred.
• 3+ years of on-site experience in construction-specific project health & safety.
• Certification in the field: CHST, ASP, and/or CSP are preferred.
• Pharmaceutical or high-tech project experience is highly desired.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry and construction standards.

Responsibilities

• Engage with general contractors and subcontractors on behalf of the owner, as the owner’s representative.
• Promote client’s safety culture across contractor and subcontractor groups.
• Identify uncontrolled hazards and influence safe work practices on behalf of the owner.
• On-site observation of construction activities from an EHS perspective.
• Documentation of activities with respect to required EHS performance.
• Train on-site workers on EHS oversight program requirements.
• Train on-site subcontractors on EHS oversight program requirements.
• Help administer project directives given by the Client’s EH&S personnel.
• Report on compliance with safety procedures and the approved safety plan.
• Maintain safety-related documentation on the project site (SDS, JHA, training, toolbox talks).
• Participate in daily pre-shift coordination meetings and review of activities.
• Review General Contractor JHAs and obtain signatures prior to work.
• Conduct daily site inspections and propose corrective actions.
