Job summary

Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. is seeking Project Engineers to join our growing teams in Winchester, VA. The role works with Project Managers and Superintendents to coordinate activities within time and funding constraints.

On-site at an active project, responsibilities include reviewing shop drawings, assisting with change orders, coordinating subcontractors, preparing cost reports, and supporting quality control and project meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 1–2 years related experience; equivalent combination.
• Experience with Primevara and SureTrack scheduling packages.
• Valid operator’s license.
• Computer literate.

Responsibilities

• Assists project superintendent to resolve field problems and provide design information through the design professional.
• Reviews, coordinates, and verifies that shop drawings conform with contract documents and oversees distribution of shop drawings.
• Prepares change order requests and subcontract/contract change orders for PM review.
• Coordinates, expedites, and supervises subcontractor performance with PM and superintendent.
• Coordinates delivery of materials and owner-purchased equipment to maintain construction schedule.
• Assists in preparation of payment applications to owner and reviews subcontractors' progress payment requests.
• Prepares periodic cost reports and supports quality control actions.
• Attends progress meetings, records minutes, and distributes them to participants.
• Reviews and maintains as-built drawings, manuals, and start-up data at site and office.
• Supports engineers/surveyors with field layout activities and measurement.
