Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Construction Materials Technician to perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel on varied projects including roadways, bridges, and airports. You will document findings, analyze data for accuracy, and communicate results to the Project Manager.

The role emphasizes fieldwork with opportunities to advance to roles like Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in field testing or construction-related work.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Proficiency with laptop, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge of construction materials testing (soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, steel).
• Ability to pass drug/background/MVR checks (THC acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
• Ensure testing and observations follow training and procedures.
• Document findings and results clearly and accurately.
• Perform basic data analysis to verify accuracy before submission.
• Communicate information to the Project Manager and team.
• Train lower-level technicians.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to keep it in good working order.
