Job summary

Ajax Building Company in Jacksonville, FL seeks a hands-on Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations, manage craft and subcontractor teams, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to high standards.

The role reports to the General Superintendent and requires strong leadership, safety discipline, and the ability to coordinate with clients and inspectors on diverse construction projects.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of relevant supervisory experience in the construction field.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods).
• Thorough knowledge of all safety requirements.
• The ability to motivate employees and handle any situation that occurs on the project.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, evaluate, and manage craft personnel per policies.
• Supervise craft employees, subcontractors, and field operations per design, budget, and schedule.
• Plan and oversee daily on-site construction activities including manpower, materials, equipment, and sequencing.
• Interpret drawings and specifications; provide technical guidance and methods.
• Support project management in developing project procedures and field documentation.
• Interface with clients, inspectors, and trade partners for project execution.
• Enforce safety policies; promote a strong safety culture and corrective actions.
• Monitor productivity, resource utilization, and project performance to meet requirements.
• Review and approve field transactions like purchase requisitions and field changes.
• Perform or oversee layout and field engineering activities.
