Job summary

Vaughn Construction in Texas seeks an Assistant Superintendent to supervise on-site activities, coordinate trades, and ensure adherence to plans, schedule, and safety programs. This role supports healthcare, higher education, and research facility projects with a focus on quality and efficiency.

You will lead foremen and workers, train teams, maintain clear communications, and contribute to delivering projects on time and within budget in a family-like company culture.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in construction, engineering or related field or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
• Minimum of four years construction experience with minimum of three years in supervisory capacity; healthcare, higher education, and/or laboratory projects preferred.
• Experience with self-performing work in excavation, concrete, and finish carpentry preferred.
• Profitable track record.
• Beat-the-budget self-perform labor track record.
• Ability to meet or beat project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and supervise on-site construction activities for quality and conformance with plans, specs, and shop drawings.
• Enforce Vaughn’s safety program and OSHA rules.
• Provide technical assistance, interpretation of drawings and construction methods.
• Coordinate trade installations to mitigate sequencing, constructability, and space conflicts.
• Review plans and shop drawings before duties.
• Communicate effectively with project team, QA/QC, and safety staff.
• Develop relationships with client and design team to ensure successful delivery.
• Maintain accurate time sheets, daily reports, and labor projections.
• Support schedule development and maintenance for timely installations.
