Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Collections Specialist to join their team in Schaumburg, IL. This on-site, 3-month contract offers exposure to accounts receivable, overdue collections, and collaboration with sales, billing, and customer service.

The ideal candidate will have an associate or bachelor’s in accounting/finance, 2+ years in collections, and strong Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS). Excellent communication and multitasking in a fast-paced setting are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, SUM-IFS).
• 2+ years of experience in collections/accounts receivable.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor accounts receivable to identify overdue accounts and follow up with customers regarding payment status.
• Contact customers via phone, email, or written correspondence to collect outstanding balances.
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, short payments, and disputes in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with sales, billing, and customer service teams to address issues impacting collections.
• Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and customer communications.
• Prepare and analyze aging reports to track collection efforts and trends.
• Recommend accounts for escalation, legal action, or write-off as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws governing debt collection.
• Assist in developing and implementing strategies to improve cash flow and reduce bad debt.
