Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is hiring a Staff 2, Associate Engineer in Elko, NV to oversee district projects and coordinate with the crew manager and traffic engineer. This on-site role emphasizes regulatory compliance, coordination with consultants and contractors, and ensuring projects meet schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and two years of professional engineering experience, or Engineer Intern certification with two years of professional engineering experience, or two years at Staff I/Associate Engineer in Nevada State service.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer; visa sponsorship not provided.
• On-site position with no remote work option.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning, design, analysis and inspection of construction and maintenance of transportation systems and structures.
• Design and analyze traffic systems including signals, lighting, striping, and sign supports.
• Evaluate pavement structural sections for new and existing roadways and rehabilitation strategies.
• Review water right applications, assist in hearings and rulings, and manage water allocations and inventories.
• Ensure water quality clearance and environmental regulation compliance; assess air quality and hazardous waste requirements.
