Job summary

Mallard Manufacturing, a MacLean-Fogg Company, is hiring an Engineering Technician - CAD Design at our Sterling, IL facility. You will support design, testing, operation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment while helping improve automation, equipment reliability, and production performance.

This on-site role offers 1st shift hours and hourly pay. You will read blueprints, interpret specifications, and collaborate with engineering on machine installations and process improvements.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of relevant experience in engineering or technical roles.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specs, blueprints, and shop orders.
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to follow instructions.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team; adapt to changes.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, production, testing, operation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Set up and operate production machinery; perform routine tests and adjustments.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and assist with repairs and modifications.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on automation improvements and installations.
• Read blueprints and shop orders to determine setup and operating requirements.
• Assist with design, fabrication, and prototyping of components and tools.
