Job summary

Vallen is seeking an On-site Buyer to service a customer location in Uniondale, NY, purchasing stock and non-stock items to meet price, quality, timing, and supply reliability goals. The role involves reviewing forecasts, placing POs, negotiating with vendors, tracking orders, and maintaining supplier relationships while adhering to LEAN practices and SOPs.

Qualifications include a high school diploma (Bachelor's preferred), 1+ year procurement experience, and strong MS Office skills; CPM

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Finance, etc.) preferred. 1+ years of experience in the field of Procurement preferred. CPM certification preferred.
• Excellent customer service.
• Computer skills and aptitude to learn the various ERP and Inventory Management applications.
• Mathematical aptitude for basic calculations.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail, organizational and execution skills.
• Proficiency with MS-Office products.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform procurement activities to ensure customer demand for products and materials is met in alignment with purchasing strategies.
• Review and approve forecasts and replenishment recommendations.
• Place purchase requisitions and vendor purchase orders.
• Research and assess vendors to meet specifications, price, and delivery standards.
• Negotiate and coordinate vendor returns for aging/expired inventory and other liquidation activities.
• Follow up on order status with vendors and communicate with customers.
• Maintain supplier relationships and resolve payment or quality issues.
• Document opportunities for customer cost savings and KPI data.
