Job summary

Lerch Bates seeks a Building Envelope Field Specialist to support testing, QA observations, site investigations, and performance evaluations on new and existing buildings. You’ll conduct envelope testing, field observations, document findings, and assist with roofing, waterproofing, fenestration, and air barrier systems.

This field-focused role requires independent work, collaboration with consultants and contractors, and strong technical writing to produce clear reports.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working on active construction sites, building enclosure projects, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of residential, commercial, and institutional building construction practices and enclosure systems.
• Experience identifying field conditions and relating observations to performance and moisture-management issues.
• Knowledge of roofing, waterproofing, glazing, weather barriers, air barriers, and exterior walls.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field testing, site observations, and condition assessments of building enclosure systems.
• Prepare clear field reports documenting observations, testing results, and recommendations.
• Support roof, facade, waterproofing, and building enclosure performance studies and commissioning.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Maintain documentation following company templates and quality processes.
