Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure safety, quality, and performance of production equipment. You will troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on custom automation gear while supporting building systems as needed.

Based at our Memphis facility, you will work on a shift with possible changes, respond to emergencies, document activities, read manuals, and collaborate with other departments to drive improvements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Trade school certificates/licenses or associate degree preferred.
  • 3 to 5yr+ Experience in Manufacturing as an Industrial Mechanic.
  • Good documentation skills.
  • Hands on repair skills.
  • Good communication, team player, flexible, self-motivated, and decision maker.
  • Professionalism.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Continuous learning attitude.
  • Can read schematics (equipment manuals, mechanical, pneumatic, piping, part assemblies).
  • Safe, clean, and organized work habits.
  • Familiar with what tools are correct for specific tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Working Shift hours and flexible to possible shift time changes.
  • Be on-site during all working hours.
  • Hands on work resolving emergency equipment breakdowns, routine repair work, and other preventative maintenance jobs.
  • Daily work will include a mix of responding to equipment failures as they occur, completing scheduled equipment servicing/lubing/inspections, completing Trello documentation, and helping drive new opportunities for improvements.
  • Assist operations in achieving their production timelines by ensuring equipment is in good operating condition and responding to emergency breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the other department teams on process improvements.
  • Carefully read manuals of equipment and interpret them to understand how to operate and maintain them properly.
  • Inspect newly acquired equipment upon arrival, check every part to be sure that they are working and meet industry standards before they are put to use in the factory.
  • Read work orders to confirm the production task is within the capacity of the factory’s equipment to abide by manufacturers’ guidelines; make provision for alternate equipment to handle big production tasks to prevent wearing out.
  • Strictly abide by safety regulations during manufacturing activities, keeping equipment in check to avoid mechanical hazards that could cause harm to operators and workers.
  • Teach workers how to operate equipment to avoid pressing the wrong buttons that could trigger accidents, which could lead to casualties.
  • Carry out routine servicing of equipment as part of measures to prevent breakdowns and malfunctions, which could thwart production activities.
  • Keep record of maintenance activities to track the lifespan of equipment.
  • When equipment breakdown continues too frequently after repeated fixing, it will need to be replaced.
  • Oversight of chemical storage and SDS compliance/labelling.
  • Troubleshoot equipment to determine specific malfunctioning issues and tackle them accordingly.
  • Communicate with management or clients to inform them about equipment faults and best maintenance techniques to implement for maximum performance.
  • Prioritize daily work orders according to their level of importance.
