Job summary

Beal Bank USA is seeking a highly detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations, reviewing staff work, preparing financial and board reporting, and strengthening internal controls. This is an on-site role located in Plano, Texas, with no remote option.

The role emphasizes cross-training, close coordination, and collaboration with auditors and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• CPA certification or relevant accounting management experience in a financial institution required.
• Progressive accounting experience including financial statement prep, general ledger, month-end close and reconciliations.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting processes.
• Working knowledge of CECL and related reporting requirements.
• Experience with banking/financial institutions preferred.
• Experience reviewing accounting work and guiding staff.
• Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work on-site during all scheduled hours.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Provide day-to-day oversight to accounting staff and ensure timely, accurate work.
• Review staff work including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and policies.
• Coordinate with auditors, regulators, and tax advisors; track findings.
• Maintain internal control documentation and close checklists.
• Identify process improvements and automate reconciliations and reporting.
• Oversee fixed-asset accounting and CECL accounting matters.
• Respond to ad hoc requests from Controller and management.
