Job summary

Terraces at DeKalb is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support upkeep, functionality, and aesthetics of our residential community. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment for residents while collaborating with a dedicated property management team.

Requirements include 3+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in residential settings, with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and appliance repair skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in residential properties.
• EPA refrigerant handling certification is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset with proactive maintenance approach.
• Professional communication with residents, coworkers and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Work Order Fulfillment: respond to maintenance requests, prioritize safety and emergencies.
• Document all work in the property management system for tracking.
• Preventive Maintenance: inspect HVAC, plumbing, detectors, and other systems.
• Apartment Turnovers: make-ready tasks, paint, fixtures, deep clean, checks.
• General Repairs and Grounds: drywall, doors/windows, fencing, cleanliness.
• Maintain common areas and grounds including trash, curb sweep, landscaping.
• Inventory and Shop Organization: manage stock and labeling of tools and materials.
• Vendor Oversight & Safety: supervise contractors and ensure OSHA compliance.
