Job summary

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas is seeking a Service Driver to operate alternate vehicles and transport passengers on scheduled routes or on-demand services. You will interact with riders courteously and ensure safety and compliance with all rules while collecting fares and recording trips.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, following dispatch directions, announcing destinations, handling patron concerns, and maintaining punctual service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of two years general work experience including driving and customer service.
• Must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Drives Alternative Vehicles to transport passengers safely and courteously according to schedules.
• Drives Alternative Vehicles over specified routes, subject to changes in service demand.
• Add/remove trips via electronic tablet per dispatch instructions.
• Announce destinations and adhere to stops as directed to optimize routes.
• Document trip problems and report progress to meet schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment and record defects.
• Comply with ADA requirements and safety procedures; handle passenger concerns as needed.
